long time no speak

No one blogs anymore. I just do this on here because its easier to edit than on those facebook update things. Not that anyone reads either of those things. I'll try and keep it short.

October- we went on tour. Sadly due to various reasons (out of our hands) we had to cancel half the fucking tour so it ended up being like 3 dates or something. However brighton, chichester and Kingston all treated us very well. We met some awesome people and played with some awesome bands. Other than that we did nothing but work and get drunk.

November- We just got back from recording our mini album on friday. We Spent the whole week working at serafina studios in the small town of Eastbourne with the lovely Nick Kinnish. I won't bore you with a studio diary cause without pictures those things are shit. We didn't do much besides track our instruments really fast so we could go back on the internet and play farmville. We stayed with a lovely family who looked after us so nicely and everyone there were so welcoming and treated us like we weren't dicks. Anywho, we're getting the masters back to us on monday and I CAN'T WAIT. I have one song on my laptop for various reasons and i just want to send it to everyone but i can't. This week we'll be sorting out the release date, artwork and touring details for the record. I can't tell you much more right now than the mini album is going to be 7 songs long. I can't even tell you the name of it. cause we don't know it ourselves yet.

NEXT UP- in like 2 weeks we're getting t-shirts, i'm sure if you're interested enough to read this you would have seen the t-shirt design. They're limited to 25 and believe me, it looks like they've already sold out but not officially so y'all just gonna have to be quick now! Then in like 3 weeks time we're off on tour with Battle For Paris again. More on that soon!

anywho.... here's a little promo video we made for our latest single. Keep an eye out on MTV for it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp9Gm-aRe5A

A few things happened in September...

September was a really quiet month for us really. We were meant to be on tour with Easy Hips but for various reasons it didn't happen.

We did however manage to fit in a couple of gigs in september , the first being Offset. Our set as such wasn't great but we met easy hips and tonnes of other great bands. Offset was an awesome weekend but i think we could have enjoyed it more had we not had such a long weekend.
It started on Friday afternoon, we're driving down to brighton to play the freebutt w/ Easy Hips as a warm up for offset. We were grabbing a lift from the singer of Betty Pariso ,Mazz Gambardella, however 10 minutes after leaving my house, still in Winchester, we manage to (not our fault) crash into the car infront of us leaving mazz's car looking like this: http://i34.tinypic.com/10pzy85.jpg
Anyway my dad gives us a lift to offset,we play and get very drunk all day and i pretended to be from the futureheads to get some free beer ( i don't they believed me but i guess it was just to get rid of me) Sunday was awful, the bands on that day were the ones i actually wanted to see but i managed to catch some sort of death cold (turned out to be swine flu) so i spent most of the day (and the next 7 days after that) wanting to die.

The other gig we managed to play was just eventful. 21st September i wake up and theres a text from my mate who's new clubnight started that night and he didn't have any bands so he asked if we could play. "well, i might as well, help a mate out" i thought to myself. I wish i hadn't. We got there, the PA was appauling ( we ended up doing our set instrumental). So we set up in our corner there were definitely people there, but there was A) no where for them to stand and watch the bands (theres a wall that divides the room into bar/"music venue") and B) they were not interested in seeing music. The owner complained twice about the noise during our set we then went on to be stroppy teenagers and got very shitty about the venue, owner and the people that were there. So we got banned. SO BASICALLY NO ONE EVER, EVER GO TO THE MIKIKI LOUNGE!

So in our time off since then we've managed to: finish writing the mini-album, Tom passed his driving test, I got a job (tom's on his way too), started sorting t-shirts for december tour, started writing for the BFP split. More on all this soon...

Right it's october now, we've got some siiiiiiiiiiiiick gigs this month, here they are (can we call it a tour?!):

22 Oct 2009 20:00
Belushi’s w/ Easy Hips
Brighton
24 Oct 2009 20:00

25 Oct 2009 20:00

28 Oct 2009 20:00

29 Oct 2009 20:00
The Tap House (Free Entry) Kidderminster
31 Oct 2009 20:00

whats happening 26/09

Hi guys,
this week has been an emotional one for us, all our friends have left us for university and we're sitting at home doing shit all looking like idiots. We're desperately trying to save so we can record our mini album in November. Despite both being unemployed we will, thanks to the government and various temping jobs, manage to get the money (so Nick, if you're reading this... don't worry). We're going into the studio with Nick Kinnish @ Serafina Studios and we're so pleased to be able to go to such an awesome studio with an awesome producer who's worked with some awesome bands (Architects, blakfish, colour, youves, Data select Party) so we'll know it'll at least sound good sonically!

Speaking of DSP, they announced they broke up the other day. Majorly sad about that, that band has sound tracked my summer since i was in year 10.

But yeah, in other us-related news we've got an averagely busy October. Next week we're putting the finishing touches (and by that i mean i actually start learning them) to 3 new songs for the mini album. We shall then be demoing them the week after, we're also going to be recording a very special cover which should be featured on the Holy Roar Xmas Tape. We should also be having our first(of many) naked photo shoot. More details on how you can get your grubby mitts on those pictures ASAP! we SHOULD then be going on tour but I'm not sure how likely that is at the moment. we'll see how it goes.

also if you can't possibly wait to hear the mini-album we're releasing a split EP with the lovely Battle For Paris in December. This'll also be on sale on our tour in December. It'll be limited to 50 copies all handmade by yours truly, all exclusive tracks, and super cheap so make sure you get yourself one when its out!

riiiiiiiiiight, i have cramps in my hand from typing so much.

shall update you lot soon on whats going with us.

Release Announcement

Hello Boys and Girls,
right we've been sitting on two songs to release as a 7" since December, after many set backs we've finally confirmed our plans for our release.

We're very very pleased to announce we're going to be releasing one of our tracks on a 4 way split 7" with 3 other awesome bands.

the current track listing is:

Easy Hips- White Ace & one song tbc
run,WALK!- 3,5,10
Dream Boats- Fallen Rose(s)
Le Swing- Lines that get attention & 1 song tbc

it's going to be released by Holy Roar Records in either late august or early september. In Case you haven't heard of Holy Roar (seriously where the fuck have you been) but they've released some stuff by some rather amazing bands such as Gallows, Rolo Tomassi, Dananananaykroyd, Devil Sold His Soul, Throats, Maths and Youves (to mention a few) so as you can imagine we're SO excited to be part of the Holy Roar clan!

here is what they said on their website:

"New Roars On The Block" 4-way split 7"
Featuring miniature spazz-drums-bass-indie-freakout kids Run, Walk!, OTT Bucket Full Of Teeth-esque drum machine screamo from Le Swing, nudity-loving Brighton ROCKIN screamo tykes Easy Hips and finally hipster grind rockers Dreamboats, this is looking like 6 tracks of some of the most promising UK bands that remember golden eras for screamo and noise-rock. Limited to 320 copies in Holy Roar packaging, this will be out in Aug/Sept. You can listen to clips of all bands on our myspace or download the mp3 that has clips of all bands here

To celebrate this we're going to posting both of our newest songs on myspace for all you lot to listen to, in fact we're even going to be uploading the official version of "Time is Catching Up With Me" as a free download!

this will obviously be supported by tonnes and tonnes of touring so watch this space for more news on that!

right now we're pretty much sorted for the july tour with Battle For Paris, who have recently just uploaded a track from their forthcoming EP on their myspace and its absolutely gob smackingly good seriously go have a listen! www.myspace.com/battleforparisuk

anyway, to conclude, go listen to our new songs on myspace and let us know what you think and we'll let you know more info on this ASAP.

laptop problems

right, so thanks to everyone that has joined up to the mailing list so far, you will definitely recieve your demos... however probably not today.

As i write this im sitting at my parent's lame ass computer, its so bad the letters come up a few seconds after your type them on the keyboard. oh well. More importantly this computer has none of my stuff on it and doesn't have the demos. I'm sending my laptop off tomorrow , i don't know how long it'll take but i'm sure i'll make it the wait worth the wait ;)

last week, we played a couple of gigs, one in London, one in Brighton both were averagely average but at brighton we managed meet an awesome band called battle for paris they're lovely and technical and shit, i love it.

anyway, next gig is 7th of may with the ol' Bro'tide at the best strip club in the south- the george.

DANANANANAYKROYD

debut album. it's amazing!

also we've decided that after our gig with brontide (7th of may) we're going to take time off from gigging until july to concentrate on our exams so if this whole band thing fails (highly likely) then maybe we'll be able to go do a normal job... well Tom will be able to, not sure about me.

in this time off we'll be sorting out our tours for the summer.

more news on everything soon. we've been sitting on the recordings of our 7" since december so hopefully we'll have more news on releasing it soon.

the best review ever

a couple of weeks ago, i discovered a review of mine and James(old drummer) first ever demo that we did when we were 15.

here's a little taster of what the reviewer thought:

"It's a kind of lo-fi Minus The Bear, except nowhere near as good. Infact I can't make out if run, WALK! are on the verge of greatness or whether they're just a turd masked with perfume, hiding the stench of shit which is eminating from beneath the masked pong."

everytime i read this it gets better and better.

Wednesday 4 February 2009

so yeah

sorry for not updating this that much recently, not much has been going on and i've had exams etc.

Anyway, hope you've all enjoyed the snow, both Tom and I had two snow days off of college and they were awesome.
Last night we played a gig at the joiners, besides the terrible turn out ( mainly our fault really), we had a great gig and met lots of nice people. We felt somewhat out of place on the bill which was filled with electronic/dance acts but for some reason we seemed to be well recieved. The other bands we played with and you should check out were: SHEGOTSICK (one girl, one boy rapping, singing and dancing over an awesome backing track, they had a song about masterbation that me and Tom reckon could easily reach number 1) and Last Action Hero (one man electronica with guitar, keyboard and sequencer, this guy was sick, ranging from really ambient slow stuff to full on dance-ya-pants-off-rave)

anyway, things are looking like you guys are gonna start hearing the songs from our 7" a lot quicker than we thought, sometime soon we're going in to do a live session for Surge Radio, a southampton based student radio which should be awesome, i don't know when it'll air or how many songs we'll play but i'm sure there'll be some new ones in there. Also soon, we should have song appearing on an audioblog thing for a sick label based in ireland, which will be streaming for a week from their myspace/website/blog etc so when that's up we'll let you guys know!

anyway,
i think that's all for now.

Matt

PS. we started a twitter (www.twitter.com/runwalk) and a purevolume (www.purevolume.com/runwalk) why don't you follow/become a fan of us :)

Monday 19 January 2009

we've now got

the final mixes of the songs for our next release.

they sound pretty banging if say so myself!

we're not sure what we're doing with them at the moment but more on that soon...

Sunday 11 January 2009

goonite, new song and other not so interesting things

We played goonite club at barden's in london last tuesday and it was S-I-C-K we played to a really lovely crowd and met lots of nice new people. currently we have no new gigs booked, which is a bugger but we're currently rather busy with other stuff thats all backstage. more on that soon.

but something to do with you guys: i'm currently mixing a demo that we recorded with our mate in november , its called "projections on the wall" and if you've seen us recently we've been playing it live. it was originally meant to come as a free download with the 7" but seeing as we're releasing the 7" a lot later than we thought we would be we're going to just wack it on myspace. we've also got two other songs including a massively epic one including violin and too many loops and a re recording of an old song.

anyway, more exciting news to come soon, and hopefully we'll get down to booking some gigs.

peace xx

Thursday 1 January 2009

happy new year!

2008 has been an eventful year for run,WALK! , i guess you could say it's been our first proper year considering we only played 4 gigs last year and 30+ this year.
things that have happened this year:

-we got to the final in that battle of the bands thing
- we went on two mini tours in march and april
- meet loads of amazing people
- sold out of our EP
- played two house party gigs barely able to stand
- done a radio interview
- sorted out our next release (pretty much)
-lost a lot of money
- james quit, tom joined
- wrote loads of new songs
- supported some amazing bands such as this town needs guns, tubelord, blakfish, brontide, youlovehercozshesdead, minotaur explode, Gay against you, Lonely Ghosts, DIE!DIE!DIE!, Colour, Venice Ahoy, Canterbury, Vessells and Mirror!Mirror!
- recorded too many times
- generally had a load of fun.

2009 goes like this:

- new release
- tours, tours and tours
- finish college (yay)
- possibly another release
- turn 18 (yay)
- lose more money

happy new year guys, see you soon!
